Saturday Free for All #16

Update: Due to a comment left by Kat, who does not utilize Entrecard, I decided that it's only fair that I offer a prize in addition to the EC credits for those who don't have an EC account. I haven't decided yet exactly what books I will offer, but I think I'll steal an idea from Jen @ Kids of Queers (I won her nickname contest with the nickname my dad always calls me: Zelda Jean Buttlips), and offer a couple book choices so that the winner can choose one of them for me to send him or her.

As soon as I decide what those books will be, I'll let you all know. The contest will run for at least a few weeks, so I have a bit of time yet.

I'm thinking of changing the name for Saturday's prompt here at Jane's Inspirations. I don't like the current one, 'Saturday Free for All.' But, I'm having trouble coming up with a new name. So, I'm having a contest to find a new one. If anyone cares to offer any ideas I will choose the best one and create a post revealing the new name and offering a link to the blogger who had the best idea. And if you belong to Entrecard I'll throw in 200 EC credits as well. I'd offer other prizes but I am monetarily challenged, as usual.

Also, I apologize again for not reading the work of those who participated in my previous prompts. I've had computer issues that have taken most of my time to resolve. But, I will be doing that this afternoon or tomorrow morning at the latest.

Ok, so today's prompt is: "I am woman, hear me roar!"

This is from a song by Helen Reddy. The reason I decided to use this as my prompt for today is due to the amount of attention that Michelle Obama received over the dress she wore to the Inauguration. Come on people, are we really still stuck in the dark ages where a woman's only value is in her appearance? Is she not more than a mere adornment on the arm of her husband?

What do those words, 'I am woman, hear me roar' mean to you? Whether you are a woman or a man, I'm sure they conjure up some type of reaction in you (come on guys, I challenge you to get in touch with your feminine side!). Whether it is yourself that you choose to write about, someone you know or knew, or even just the female gender in general, please let me know what you create by leaving a comment with a link to your post (not blog in general) and I will come read it. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

May inspiration always find you!

Jane

"I am strong. I am invincible. I am woman!" (I know that entire song. I think I had the 45!)

So if I come up with the title, what do I get besides EC credits (since I don't use EC - can't keep up with it)?

That is a good question Kat! I'm not sure, but I suppose it is only fair that I should offer something to those that don't have EC. Let me think on that and get back to you on it. I'm thinking maybe I'll steal an idea from a fellow blogger whose contest I won not long ago and offer a choice of one book out of 2 or 3 choices. I'll let you know when I decide. The contest will run for at least a few weeks, so I have a bit of time yet.

How about Sideways Saturday. Be interesting to see what people come up with on that.

As someone who is completely NOT infatuated by anything involving clothes, jewelry or fashion, I always find it strange and amusing that people focus on what a First Lady is wearing.

But in defense of it all, I suppose it makes it fun, light, and interesting for those who want to participate in the inaugural hubbub but have absolutely no interest in politics. Maybe when she's proved herself as First Lady with her particular pet projects then the media will have more meaty things to talk about. Til then... clothes, clothes, clothes! :-D

jakill~ That's a good one!

Wendy~ I'm hoping that eventually they will be able to discuss more about our First Lady than her wardrobe. I'm confident she will have a lot to contribute to the presidency.

Prisqua~ Welcome to Jane's Inspirations, I hope you will come back again!

I had completely forgotten about this. Is it too late?
Here's my idea:

Saturday Shots From the Hip.

What do you think?
