Hello all and welcome to Sublime Saturday! I haven't had a chance to read any comments from last week, but plan to do so tomorrow. Please forgive me for taking so long.
Tonight's prompt is another one word theme:
Spiral
I hope that it stirs your creativity!

Sublime Saturday #4
I'm actually on time this week! I have no kids today and wanted to get my post up before I forgot. Since I'm home alone this weekend I'm choosing this as my prompt:
Solitude
Do you love those moments alone? Or does solitude drive you crazy while you long for action and excitement? Write a post about Solitude, then leave your link in the comments.
Happy Writing,
Jane

Long Time No Prompt
Sorry I haven't been posting prompts yet again, we've all been sick and I just haven't had the time with all the doctor's appointments, caring for sick kids, and feeling like death and all. Today I leave you with a very quick random prompt.
Duplicity
See what you can do with that, leave a link to your post in the comments section and I'll read it as soon as I have time.
Happy Writing!

Sublime Saturdays #1
Okay, so today starts my weekly prompt once again. I've decided to name it Sublime Saturdays, at least for the moment, though that may change. Dictionary.com defines Sublime as:
~adjective;
1. elevated or lofty in thought, language, etc.: Paradise Lost is sublime poetry.
2. impressing the mind with a sense of grandeur or power; inspiring awe, veneration, etc.: Switzerland has sublime scenery.
There are other definitions, but I felt these suited my purposes well enough. To me there is nothing more Sublime than writing. So, on with the prompt.
Write a piece that uses the 5 senses and these 3 words:
element
fate
ponderous

Decisions Decisions
After much deliberation I have decided to continue with this site, but only have one prompt a week. I will post it Friday evening or Saturday morning and you can write your post and leave your comments for as long as you like. That way if my current prompt doesn't inspire you, you can browse through the archives for one that does. I will be starting with new prompts next week.
Hope to hear from you then!
Happy writing,
Jane

Taking Another Go At It!
I have not been around for a long, long time. I had a severe bought of depression and was not blogging, writing, or offering inspiration to anyone for way too long. I spent most of my time in solitude, kind of like my own personal Underworld, you know, like where Hades took Persephone and she ate the Pomegranate seeds so she had to come back down with him for 1/3 of the year every year?
Anyhoo...
I'm coming out of the Underworld now and I really want to make this site work. So, I'm deciding whether or not I'm going to continue with the prompts I have or create totally new ones on new days. I want to pick the days that I'm most likely to post a prompt on time, every week.
So tune in sometime within the next week cuz I will be letting you know what will be happening with the prompts.
Until then you can catch my insane writing here and my insane personal musings here.
I hope everyone in cyberspace is doing well.
Happy writing!
Jane

Belated Tuesday's Theme #7
Hello dear readers. My apologies for my belated replies to those who have participated or left comments. I have 4 blogs, under two different identities, and I sometimes become overwhelmed and neglect this one. I've thought about deleting this blog as I've had so few participants, but it seems as though I'm starting to gain more so I'll continue with it for now. Thanks to everyone who reads and participates!
To those who are just joining us I am running a contest to find a new name for my Saturday prompt, currently known as Saturday Free For All. I find that name to be rather unimaginative and I'm looking for a new one. You can find the specifics of said contest in this post and the books up for grabs in this post. I have not yet set an end date as I've only had one participant so far, so it will be running indefinitely. As I'm starting to gain more readers I hope that I will have more participants in the contest as well.
Onto Tuesday's Theme...
With Valentine's Day coming up this Saturday I though I'd pick a theme having to do with that. There are plenty of lovey-dovey, fluffy bunny posts out there about love and romance, and as they tend to make me nauseous, I'm heading in a different direction. So, Tuesday's Theme this week is:
Tainted Love
Write your poem, story, blog post, essay or what have you and leave a comment here with a permalink to your post, not a link to your blog in general so we can all check it out.
May inspiration always find you!

Saturday Free For All #17
We are onto the Saturday Free For All #17, which is my lucky number. I still only have one contest entry and it would make my day if there were more, the contest will run for at least another 2 weeks, so offer some ideas, please! You can check out the prizes here.
Yes, I'm a day late with this, but yesterday I was ill and just couldn't post.
I'm borrowing from a theme at Sunday Scribblings (I hope you don't mind! If so, let me know and I will delete this one and post a new prompt for today. You can read my post on Phantoms and Shadows here) and twisting it just a bit. I want to hear about your memories, but not normal memories, this theme is:
Odd Remembrances
What are your strangest memories? What are the most unusual, out of the ordinary, twisted memories you can conjure?
Write your poem, story, essay or blog post and leave a permalink to that post (not your blog in general) in the comment section and I will follow it and check it out!
Tomorrow I will write a post thanking my top Entrecard droppers for January, so come back to check that out.
May inspiration always find you!

New Look, Contest Books and Tuesday's Theme
Ok, in case you haven't noticed I changed my page some and added my fav writing quotes to my sidebar.
Also, I have decided on the books I will offer the contest winner to choose from once the contest has concluded. You may choose one of these 3 books:
Me Talk Pretty One Day~David Sedaris
Interpreter of Maladies~Jhumpa Lahiri
Queen of Camelot~Nancy McKenzie
All three of these books are amazing, it is a hard choice. The first 2 are collections of short stories by amazingly superlative authors and the 3rd is a novel about the reign of King Arthur and his beautiful, enigmatic wife, Guinevere, told by one of my fav authors, Nancy McKenzie. You can read my review of this novel here.
So, come on people, I've only had one person offer their idea for the contest. I'm a damsel in distress and I need your help finding a new name for Free For All Saturday! Help a gal out, won't ya?
Now, on to Tuesday's Theme....
Confusion
Write a story, poem, essay or blog post regarding this theme and once you are done leave a link to that post (not to your blog in general) here in the comment section. Also, please remember to link to this post in your post.
May inspiration always find you!

Saturday Free for All #16
Update: Due to a comment left by Kat, who does not utilize Entrecard, I decided that it's only fair that I offer a prize in addition to the EC credits for those who don't have an EC account. I haven't decided yet exactly what books I will offer, but I think I'll steal an idea from Jen @ Kids of Queers (I won her nickname contest with the nickname my dad always calls me: Zelda Jean Buttlips), and offer a couple book choices so that the winner can choose one of them for me to send him or her.
As soon as I decide what those books will be, I'll let you all know. The contest will run for at least a few weeks, so I have a bit of time yet.
I'm thinking of changing the name for Saturday's prompt here at Jane's Inspirations. I don't like the current one, 'Saturday Free for All.' But, I'm having trouble coming up with a new name. So, I'm having a contest to find a new one. If anyone cares to offer any ideas I will choose the best one and create a post revealing the new name and offering a link to the blogger who had the best idea. And if you belong to Entrecard I'll throw in 200 EC credits as well. I'd offer other prizes but I am monetarily challenged, as usual.
Also, I apologize again for not reading the work of those who participated in my previous prompts. I've had computer issues that have taken most of my time to resolve. But, I will be doing that this afternoon or tomorrow morning at the latest.
Ok, so today's prompt is: "I am woman, hear me roar!"
This is from a song by Helen Reddy. The reason I decided to use this as my prompt for today is due to the amount of attention that Michelle Obama received over the dress she wore to the Inauguration. Come on people, are we really still stuck in the dark ages where a woman's only value is in her appearance? Is she not more than a mere adornment on the arm of her husband?
What do those words, 'I am woman, hear me roar' mean to you? Whether you are a woman or a man, I'm sure they conjure up some type of reaction in you (come on guys, I challenge you to get in touch with your feminine side!). Whether it is yourself that you choose to write about, someone you know or knew, or even just the female gender in general, please let me know what you create by leaving a comment with a link to your post (not blog in general) and I will come read it. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Tuesday's Theme #5
As you know, today is Inauguration Day and we swear in a new president. Thank Goddess for that! In honor of today, I thought I'd post a prompt. At first, I thought of' change,' but decided that was too predictable and mundane. So, the prompt for today is:
Good Riddance!!
Though the thought behind this prompt is political and stems from my joy of finally being rid of Monkey Boy and his disastrous dictatorship (I'm doing my happy dance right now!), feel free to steer away from the political in your story, poem, essay or blog post.
When you have finished your piece, remember to leave a comment with a link to that post, not your blog in general.
I'll be checking out the comments to my last prompt sometime today. I look forward to reading your take on my prompt.
May inspiration always find you!

Long Time No Inspiration
I've been away so long, way too long. I haven't been writing as inspiration has eluded me for the most part.
I don't know if I'll be back to posting twice a week just yet, but I'm hoping to write at least one prompt a week from now on.
This week's prompt is:
Wanted
Let your imagination and fancy fly and leave a link to your poem, story, essay, blog post or whatever so that we can all read it.
Happy Writing!
Jane
